Stefanie Being Detained By Indonesian Immigration
from Ahmad Fuad Yahya
JAKARTA, May 21 (Bernama) -- Stefanie anak Langka, 15, who was rescued by officers of Umno Youth's community complaints bureau from Lombok on Thursday is being detained by Indonesian Immigration.
The bureau's effort to bring Stefanie home on Saturday met a hitch as she did not have travel documents when following her 22 year-old lover to Lombok three months ago.
Bureau chairman Datuk Muhammad Khairun Aseh said he had discussions with the investigation division of Indonesian Immigration but there was no progress.
"Those caught entering Indonesia illegally can be jailed six years and fined Rp30 million," he told Bernama here Friday.
Muhammad Khairun said he would continue discussions with the Indonesian Immigration next week.
Stefanie was brought to the Malaysian embassy here on Thursday from Mataram after being traced in Kampung Lendang in east Lombok, a three-day journey by car from Mataram, the capital city of Lombok.
The teenager from Mukah, Sarawak was traced with the help of Malaysian and Indonesian Interpol.
She was detained by Indonesian authorities for entering the country without valid travel documents
