Kerdau Assemblyman Moved To Normal Ward

TEMERLOH, May 22 (Bernama) -- Kerdau assemblyman Datuk Zaharuddin Abu Kassim, who was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) following complications after an operation here, is recovering and has been moved from the intensive care unit (ICU) to a normal ward.

Kuala Krau MP Datuk Ismail Mohamed Said said Zaharuddin, 63, was moved to a normal ward on Wednesday and was no longer on life support system.

"Not only can he communicate and joke with his colleagues and other visitors but he can also consume soft food," he said when contacted by Bernama on Saturday.

Zaharuddin was transferred to the IJN on May 9 after experiencing complications with his kidney and heart following an operation on an ulcer in the intestine at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (Hoshas) in Temerloh.

He was admitted to Hoshas on April 3 after complaining of stomach-ache
